Once a week this site takes an image from the WPPhotos project, finds the photographer, and asks questions about the image.
Where was it taken? Why? Why were they there?

These are their stories. Read more about this project.

  • Happy Seal

Skagen is a tiny town at the very northern tip of Denmark, where the North and Baltic seas meet. This kind of seal is called a howler, after the German “Heuler”. Stefan “Paschi” Pasch was there on vacation. There weren’t many seals on the beach, this was a young one left while its mother hunted food. Paschi had a very long lense for his camera, so he didn’t need to get close to the pup.

This is Quica! She is a Sphynx cat owned by Marco and Paula from Lisbon. Legend has it she feels like a warm peach. This picture was taken by Carole Olinger at Marco and Paula’s house.

  • India’s Winter Wonderland

This photo is from the north of India, in Kashmir. It’s an extremely popular place for people to ski, sled, and many other snow sports. Kartik Shukla traveled more than 1700 kilometers to visit here. Travelers stay in a “hotel” which is basically huts, and they often enjoy a giant bonfire in the evening.

  • The Fork

On the shores of Lake Geneva, in the town of Vevey, you’ll find the “Alimentarium”, a museum devoted to food and eating. Just offshore you’ll find this giant fork stuck into the lake. Michelle Bulloch from Switzerland took this photo while visiting.
